Coimbra: the right place to visit!
If you fly from an international airport, you will arrive at either Lisbon airport or Porto airport. Then the best option is take a train (Alfa Pendular) to Coimbra. We recommend flying into Lisbon, because the connection from the airport to the train is both quicker and simpler.
If you fly to Lisbon Airport, you can take a taxi or an Uber to Estação do Oriente (2kms away) and then take a train to Coimbra. Another option is to take the subway, there is a station at the airport, you should take the red line (direction São Sebastião) and get off at Oriente station.
If you fly to Porto Airport, you can take a taxi or an Uber to the Campanhã train station and then take a train to Coimbra. Another option to reach the train station is by subway. There is a station at the airport where you should take the violet line to Estádio do Dragão and get off at Campanhã station (which is the penultimate stop).
