ISPA 2025

The International School Psychology Association (ISPA) and the Local Organizing Committee invite your submissions to the 46th Annual ISPA Conference. This conference will take place in Coimbra (Portugal) from July 16th to July 19th, 2025.

The theme of the ISPA 2025 Conference is “Promoting sustainability through more humane schools: The Role of School Psychology”. We look forward to a stimulating scientific program which will include internationally distinguished keynote speakers and a host of symposia, workshops, roundtables, and paper or poster sessions addressing the theme of the conference, as well as other issues that are pertinent to the professional life of school and educational psychologists.

ISPA 2025 calls upon researchers, policy makers and practitioners—both early career professionals as well as those with extensive experience—to submit their proposals for inclusion in the scientific program. Students are also very welcome to submit proposals. A student poster session (master’s or doctoral level) will be organized, and a “best student-poster” award will be presented.

As School and Educational Psychology is an applied science, the Local Organizing Committee welcomes both theoretical and practical submissions that relate to any of the below-mentioned topics and are of interest to an international audience.

Furthermore, given the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the work that school psychologists engage in, ISPA 2025 also welcomes submissions from those working in other related fields of psychology, as well as in the fields of education, social work, public health, and mental health.

The conference language will be English*.

For more information about how to submit, the types of submissions, and guidelines for abstract preparation, please check the submission guidelines.

You are welcome to forward this call for submission to practitioners and researchers who may be interested in participating at ISPA 2025! If you have any questions about submissions, abstracts, or the submission system, please contact the Local Organizing Committee at: ispa2025@ispaweb.org

We look forward to welcoming you to Coimbra in July of 2025!

*Although some sessions may take place in Portuguese

THEME & TOPICS

The conference theme, Building effective teams to support all children, is related to ISPA’s mission to pursue the best interests of children, adolescents and youth, educators, parents, institutions, communities, and to enhance the profession of school psychology. As we are living in an increasingly inter-connected world, traumatic events in any location can in many ways affect the lives of children, parents, teachers, and psychologists. The challenges for psychologists include working with children who have been traumatized by international or national events as well as by local events within the community or family. As psychologists we strive to ameliorate the difficulties encountered by children in respect of their cognitive functioning and social and emotional development.

Modern technology provides opportunities as well as hurdles for children and parents, as they navigate within the technology of the digital age. It thus poses additional challenges in respect of identity development and social interaction. Therefore, the level of cooperation between school psychologists, parents, and other members of the school-based or community-based teams becomes ever more important in order to best serve the interests of children, adolescents, and youth and to encourage positive growth. The development of effective teams is closely related to more general professional-development issues and conceptual models for practice, training, and research.

As school psychologists, we acknowledge that the challenges of modern technology pose not only risks but also provide opportunities for action and growth. The development of effective teams, and good collaboration among organizations, institutions, and professionals at national and international levels can contribute to overcoming adversities and ultimately supporting school communities worldwide.
